Doctors and Their Families

For many years, especially before the introduction of the Medicare Safety Net, I followed the old, if declining, custom of treating doctors and their families at substantially reduced fees. However, as I become increasingly known for the treatment of complex depression, and as I lecture repeatedly around Australia, I find I have an increasing percentage of my practice consisting of doctors and their immediate families, given my reluctance to tell this group of patients that I am overbooked. Therefore, in view of the Medicare Safety Net protection, I will bill doctors and family at my usual fees.

(PHARMACY: The safety net for pharmaceuticals is a separate mechanism for each family. If you buy medication from different pharmacies, do ask for a booklet which can be stamped in any pharmacy for each eligible item in any calendar year.)
